Snowdonia Mountain & Coast Trip Day 3 + 4

Wednesday we had the opportunity to go to Beacon Climbing Centre only 10 minutes from our hotel so nice and local. Beacon is an indoor climbing centre which has many walls of many different stages for adults & children to have fun and climb! They attach a harness which can carry 2 Ton for maximum safety.

I was so excited to take Alister because i had previously done some climbing walls back in november and i knew he would love it. We went and climb on the Crazy Climb area which is specifically for ages 5+ these walls are slightly more intriguing because the are all different shapes, designs and colours and of course slightly easier than the normal climbing walls.

Alister was very nervous actually to start with and was easily frustrated at not being able to climb so high at first, but slowly he got the hang of things and started to get higher and higher and was buzzing with adrenaline. He even said about going back again before we had even left!

Like i said above they also have a good choice of adult walls to climb which i rather high and challenging the crazy climb was definitely enough for me thats of sure!

Beacon cater for many different events including birthdays which include party bags and invites and hen & Stag days,School trips and more. Or if you want to just book and go along for an hour session with family or friends. There are many different sessions and all prices are varied to what you want to do and how experienced you are here- Prices.

Upstairs they have a cafe called Caffi Barcud they have a good choice of hot and cold food and local coffee to! There is lots of seating and its very spacious, if your wanting to just take the kids you can sit and watch them from the balcony which is really nice.
There is also a toddler area and climbing walls for the younger children that are not quite big enough for the Crazy Climb. Violet loved it and enjoyed climbing the giant elephant in the middle of the

We all throughly enjoyed Beacon Climbing centre thanks for having us!

We were supposed to head to a lovely historic railway called Talylln Railway but sadly we just couldn't make the 2 hour journey. Talylln is a preserved railway set in mid Wales, they have many vintage trains to look at and even ride on and if your a Thomas the Tank Engine fan they also have a few! Its a great family day out for forest walks and beautiful views. Or if your more interested in the history of Wales they have a Museum to and for refreshments there is a little Tea room.

Thursday was our last day before we set home we packed up our stuff after breakfast and headed to Coed Y Brenin which is a huge national resources forest park, you pay to park but can use all their trails and activities. They had many trails to follow either by foot or by mountain bike which you can hire from there own bike hire shop on the site.

We did the animal trail as we didn't have a seat for Violet to go in. The kids loved it as we had a map and clues to find the animals on the tress as we walked so it kept them very entertained and it was fun for them trying to guess the different types of animals to. This trail was a short trail and only took us no more than 40 mins or so, but there are longer. We popped into the visitor centre and had a good chat with Grace who was really helpful on which trails to take and told us more about the place.

Along the walk there were kids climbing frames and swings to play on which was nice and they were all suited for different ages to.

After our walk we headed to the cafe which was situated upstairs so you overlooked amazing views of forest and trails below. The cafe was really nice good choice of hot and cold food and very reasonable.
This is such a great place to go for a good activity day out with a picnic for all the family without spending a small fortune!

I just want to say a big thank you to Snowdonia Mountain & Coast for making our trip possible we throughly enjoyed our trip to Wales and our activity week. We will sure return in the near future!

Snowdonia Mountain & Coast Trip Day 1 + 2 | April 2015

We were very lucky to be invited for an Activity week with Snowdonia Mountain & Coast.

Our Snowdonia trip started setting off from our home to beautiful North Wales which took us over 5 hours!
We were blissfully happy though when we arrived at our accommodation The Royal Victoria Hotel in Snowdonia.

Absolutely stunning building in the heart of snowdonia it has 30 acres of woodlands and forests which includes the historic castle of Dolbadarn. The hotel has 106 bedrooms and caters for many events and meetings including weddings or if your just around the area pop in for a spot of lunch or dinner and enjoy the stunning views of the mountains in the garden.

We were lucky enough to stay in the family suite which sleeps up to 5 people. the room we had was situated at the front of the building so we had the natural light beaming through which was lovely.
The room was very spacious and cosy, we had two chairs and a small table, a large vanity unit which had many draws for clothing.

The room came well equipped with a Nespresso coffee machine which i was very pleased about as I'm a big coffee drinker! Aswell as a Tea stand to. There was a large wardrobe, fully working hairdryer, fan and Iron with ironing board and of course can't forgot the large plasma TV on the wall.
So well equipped i was really impressed.

The family bathroom was clean and spacious, there was a bath with a shower above which is great when you've got small children. A nice heated towel rail and the lovely luxury of bath robes and slippers!

The Royal Victoria Hotel is currently going through a huge refurbishment and i wanted to share some of the newly refurbished rooms i got to see. The look they are going for is a modern but with a twist of cosy shabby chic and i absolutely love it, the colours and textures are very welcoming and classic.

We loved our 3 night stay at the hotel the staff were very warm and welcoming and helpful as we did end up getting lost a few times! We dined for breakfast, lunch and dinner a few times while we were staying and each meal was delicious, great menu choice for children and very reasonable prices to.
The table we were seated at for our stay had the most amazing view of the mountains we got to see the sunset every evening which was lovely. Most evenings they had some sort of entertainment on which was also really good if we fancied staying up a little later than normal!

I would definitely recommend staying if your looking for a family vacation or even just a couples weekend. The Hospitality was very good, rooms were well equipped and comfortable. Couldn't ask for anymore with the food it was well priced and really tasty. All in all a great place to stay.

Day 2 we headed to Greenwood Forest Park which was only a very short drive from the hotel.
Greenwood forest is full of many different activities for children to do mainly focusing with the outdoors.

It is a large park for all ages, they have many wooden climbing areas called the Tree Top Towers for the older children and the Tunnel Warren, Moon Karts, soft plays, The unique Green dragon people powered roller coaster which was brilliant! It was violets first ever roller coaster ride and she loved it!

The Barefoot Trail which is something I've never come across before, you whip your socks and shoes off and head into the wooded area barefoot and experience different textures under your feet such as sand, bark, water, straw and many more!

Graham and Alister had great fun doing Artery while me and Violet played in the 3 and under soft play which was lovely because it has lots to do for the little ones to climb on and also a sensory light area.
I think the kids loved the Little Green Run the best its a very simple sledging slide that they didn't want to come off, i must admit i went on the bigger version called the Great green Run and it was so much fun!

Theres quite a few refreshments stalls around the park which sell hot and cold food and of course ice creams! We ended up having lunch in the Green Oak Cafe which was really lovely, lots of food to choose from hot and cold. Comfy sofa seating in front of the Soft play inside, also lots of tables and chairs. The kids had a fun box each which was a sandwich, drink, crisps, dried fruit and a small toy. Great value at £3.95. Graham had the cheese burger with chips which he said was nice and i went for a cheese & onion melt which is one of the popular choices on the menu its was delish!

There is so much to offer at Greenwood Forest we really enjoyed the Jungle boats, Den building, Giant Jumper and throughly enjoyed Harley the entertainer at the Forest Theatre he was so funny showing us his juggling and balancing tricks!

All and all we had an amazing day at Greenwood Forest Park they have so much to offer for all ages. I don't even think we managed to do everything in the whole day! Prices are also very reasonable at £11.90 for an adult peak season and £11.45 for a child aged 3-11.

I would highly recommend visiting if your in the area its a great family fun day out!

Folly Farm Adventure Park and Zoo | Review

We recently got back from a lovely trip to Pembrokeshire and had the opportunity to have a lovely day out at Folly Farm

Opened in 1988 this family run business has grew and grew over the years.
Folly Farm is packed with so much to do for all ages, very spacious with lots of kids play areas, sand pits, diggers, huge Carousal and race track.

The Jolly barn and Farm is full of all kinds of farm animals, sheep, horses, giant rabbits, goat grooming and even watching eggs hatching in incubators! My first impressions of the Jolly barn is that all the animals looked very well looked after fresh bedding/ food etc it actually felt clean for a farm!!

For places to eat they have the Coffee shop at the entrance which sell a mixture of hot and cold food with seating.

The Vintage fun fair was brilliant literally walking into an indoor fairground, lots of rides to go such as bumper cars and the one and only Waltzer! There are also lots of classic games to play.
Went and had lunch in the Vintage fair good choice of hot and cold food at very reasonable prices. Lots of seating and highchairs to.

Theres also and indoor soft play for all ages with a little cafe for a quick coffee and cake break!

Folly Zoo was probably my absolute favourite part of the day, being so close to the lions was amazing, and the kids loved the penguins they definitely put on a show!

You can walk to the giraffe and Zebra watch tower which was great because the Giraffes were so friendly it was lovely seeing the up so close.

There is so much to offer at Folly Farm and they were currently in the process of building new enclosures for flamingos!

It literally took a whole day to get round and see everything and I'm still not 100% sure we did!
I couldn't actually believe the prices they are so reasonable at just over £10 for an adult and under £10 for a child ages 3-12 or OAP.

I throughly enjoyed our day trip to Folly Farm we were very lucky with the weather and i felt like the whole park was well maintained, spacious with plenty of facilities for in and outdoors.
Would highly recommend a visit if your in the area. We would definitely go back for sure!

Usborne Children's Cupcake Kit | Review

I was lucky enough to receive a free copy of Usborne Children's Cupcake Kit back in February and i am here to tell you all about it!

Me and the children love to bake and i was really excited to have the opportunity to give this gorgeous kit ago.

The Kit comes well packaged in a lovely box and contains the cupcake recipe book which has 23 different cupcake recipes to choose from, some are even gluten and dairy & nut free so great if  your someone with allergies. The box also contains 380 cupcake case in two different sizes plus 20 cupcake toppers!

We made a few different cupcakes from the book and all recipes turned out perfectly and tasted amazing! Our favourite one was definitely the Maple & pecan so moist and delicious!

The recipe book is such an easy read for all ages even Alister age 5 read out the ingredients list with me, I also loved the illustrations and realistic photos of the cupcakes. Each ingredients list is nice and basic and the instructions are broken down into numbers with drawings next to them which really makes the book kid friendly.

Like i mentioned above i came across a few recipes that were Gluten, dairy and nut free and every recipe is adaptable to. Theres a good choice of different flavoured cupcakes as well as some themed cakes such as Christmas cupcakes.

I really love the book and so do the children i can definitely see us using it for years as they grow older and the fact that every recipe we've used so far has worked definitely makes me want to get through the whole book!

You can pick up Usbornes Children's Cupcake Kit from most online shops and stores and their own store here- Childrens Cupcake Kit
