My First Scalextric Review & Giveaway!!!

The kids were lucky enough to receive an awesome new toy called My First Scalextric 'Racing fun for the Young Driver'! Alister definitely loves playing with his cars but has never had one of these tracks before nor played with one.

Me and Violet actually unboxed and set it up while he was at school to surprise him! Of corse we had to have a go on it. For some reason from remembering my brothers old Scaletrix that i wasn't allowed to play with.. i remember it being quite flimsy and the cars spun off quite quickly. However this version is amazing and really well built! Violet and i had so much fun whizzing around the track.

Alister was probably the most impressed and couldn't wait to give it ago once home. My husband and Alister have been playing with it for what it seems like hours whizzing around the track!

Such a fantastic fun and interactive toy, well built which literally took me about 5 minutes to slot the track together. The hand remotes that control the car are attached with a plug which slots straight into the board. Its powered by a lead and plug so no need for batteries!

The cars are small and robust with wire wool type material attached underneath for the electric to take the cars around the track.

All in all the My First Scalextric toy is great and fun for all ages 3+ and will last years as long as its looked after. Its bright and very eye catching with the red and yellow chevrons and its a very well made sturdy track.

RRP £34.99. For ages 3 years + .

So getting on to the Giveaway! If you'd like to win a My First Scalextric just enter the rafflecopter below and in a week ill announce the winner by email.

Heres the Official Promotional TV Advert for this toy-

Monty Bojangles Truffles Review & Autumnal Recipes!

We were recently sent a few boxes of Monty Bojangles Truffles to sample and make a couple of delicious recipes with!

Monty Bojangles are lovingly made in France based on a traditional recipe from back in 1934.
These French Truffles are delicious and very moorish, they come in many different flavours and dusted in Cocoa which are also presented in gorgeous bright and colourful packaging, very eye catching and unique.

Monty Bojangles  Truffles are super luxury with a high Cacao content, they are rich, dreamy and not too sweet such a indulgent chocolate for all the family and great as gifts!

I received the Original Choccy Scoffy Truffles to make an indulgent Spiced Hot Chocolate with.
This recipe was simple and delicious perfect for those Wintery cold evenings, The hot chocolate was rich and satisfying the kids really loved it to!

1L Milk
100g Monty Bojangles Choccy Scoffy Truffles
1/2 tsp Cocoa powder
75g Caster sugar ( optional)
1 tsp Cinnamon
pinch of Cayenne pepper
Whipped cream to serve.

Gently heat the milk until nearly boiled, Add the Truffles and remove from heat.
In a separate bowl mix the dry ingredients together and once the milk & truffles have melted together slowly add the into the dry ingredients using a whisk.
Once all melted and brought to boiling pour into mugs and serve with whipped cream simple!

Getting on  to a real treat now this recipe is called Monty Bojangles Warming Winter Salted Caramel Tart using the Flutter Scotch Cocoa Dusted Truffles. This recipe is Devine and one treat i didn't want to share if I'm honest! So rich in flavour and sticky in texture. Served with a dollop of whipped cream or even Vanilla ice-cream this is a true show stopper and great for parties!

I found the recipe also very easy to follow and the outcome was great!

For the Pastry-
300g plain flour
3 tsp cocoa powder
150g butter
3 tsp caster sugar
1 egg yoke
2 tsp water

For the Caramel-
250g Golden caster sugar
6 tsp water
100ml Single Cream
25g salted butter melted
1/2 tsp sea salt

For the chocolate Filling-
100g Monty Bojangles Flutter Scotch Truffles chopped
85g butter
1 egg
2 egg yokes
3tsp caster sugar

Whizz all the pastry ingredients together in a food processor until it forms a ball. wrap in cling film and pop in the fridge to firm up for an hour.

Once firm roll out your pastry and place on to a greased removable base tart tin, i actually used an old school ceramic one which worked perfectly fine! Place in freezer and preheat your oven at 200c or Gas mark 6.

For the caramel put the sugar and water into a sauce pan and heat slowly until the sugar dissolves.
Once dissolved turn the heat up let it boil until it turn sot caramel than remove from heat stir in the cream, melted butter & salt. Leave to cool.

Remove the base from freezer and prick the base with a fork, line with baking beads and blind bake for 12 minutes. Remove paper and beans and leave to cool or 20 minutes.

Once cool pour in Caramel and set aside.

Turn oven down to 180c or Gas mark 4.

Melt the Flutter Scotch Truffles with the butter on a very low and steady heat. Allow to cool than whisk in the eggs and sugar until fluffy.

Pour over the Tart and bake for 12 minutes.

Thats it.. once cooled remove from tray.

My Week In Pictures 8th-15th November

Heres yet another week in pictures, seems like a busy one actually although the weather has been pretty bad!

8th November was Violets Birthday Party, her cake was from Costco & thats me standing in front of the bouncy castle before the children arrived in my gorgeous Joules Floral Dress.

Saturday the kids had their bags packed to head of to their Nanas for the evening.

I made favour cupcakes for the kids to take home for Sunday, Graham actually got really creative and iced some of them to!

Pancakes with bacon and maple are a regular occurrence for the weekend!

Me & Graham enjoyed tea & Truffles also!

Testing out Violets Magic Crystal Garden, it was a tad fiddly to put together.

Quick changing room outfit of the day!

Monday was back to gym day.

The kids have become super independent and have been preparing their owns breakfasts lately, although much more mess to clear up for me but never mind!

We had Grahams granddads wake on Tuesday he was a budding farmer back in the day so the room was filled with tractors and animals. Was such a lovely family get together but of corse very sad time.

I completed my frame montage above our bed although I'm tempted to add more!!

Feeling all eskimo like with my hood up, its been gail force wands recently!

Me and Violet had a lovely down day on Thursday indoors games and puzzles.

We had a lovely stroll with the dogs also and checking on the pigs playing in the mud!

Its rare to get a picture of the kids snuggling together these days, so i snapped this one up such a lovely moment.

The sadness of hearing so many people had got killed in Paris i posted this picture of me with the Eiffel Tower back in January.

Pizza making time Violet is an absolute pro!

Crazy snacking/ lunch for me on Friday waiting for Graham to come back from work.

Me driving the tractor helloing Graham feed the cows i love working with my husband.

The magic crystal garden grew amazingly the kids were very impressed!

The 6 pictures are of our fun date at Longleat, ill be honest it was seriously wet but we had so much fun and do love rare family days out!

Hope you enjoyed my week in pictures don't forget to follow me on Instagram- Violetmae30.

Violet's 4th Birthday Party

Heres a whole lot of picture spam of Violets 4th birthday party! I still can not believe me baby is 4 years old already! Violet for the first year had an actual party, we hired a local village hall, and used a company with a bouncy castle/ diddy car, bubble machine and animal hoppers package, it was really reasonable and the best entertainment ever honestly! The children didn't want to leave!

As for food i headed to Costco and cooked 2 super large cheese pizzas at home and brought them to the party with some healthy nibbles of carrots & cucumber sticks as well as some cheesy puffs.
Ive done many parties in the past for Alister and general family get togethers and theres nothing worse than over doing it with the food and seeing it waste.

The sweet was obviously the birthday cake again i ordered it from Costco hey have an online click and collect with their cakes and they are so reasonable and huge at only £9.99!

For the PARTY Bags i just used a few bits from the local 99p store, bubbles, curly straw, princess wands, and a cupcake that i made!

This cake i made for Violets actual birthday using just an average Victoria sponge recipe with butter cream frosting & sprinkles!

Costco Cake.

Cupcakes i made for the kids to take home.

Pink & Gold Table Set up.

Me with my chunky little Nephew.

Well that seems to be the lot thank you for my friend Sophie for taking a few good snaps also!

It was a lovely fun afternoon and not too stressful at all!

Just for reference we used the hire company Get up and Bounce which we have used before and always had great service!
